A clean and tidy green garden or lawn always looks attractive. When you're admiring a manicured lawn, don't forget to think about the lawn mower brush cutter. Yes, it's not easy dealing with heavy bushes and small trees, and you shouldn't forget the ones who do the job well.

Brush cutters are great for trimming and shortening thickened grass in any season or weather. For gardeners, they are light machines that are easy to apply to lawns and help with landscaping. That's why it's so important to maintain your brush cutter in order to get great results time and time again. To ensure optimum results, the machine requires regular and thorough maintenance.

Simple Operation to Ensure the Service Life of the Machine

Regular and systematic maintenance after each use of the lawnmower does not take much time and ensures comfort and safety for the next use. For more complex interventions, such as engine or tool maintenance, do not hesitate to contact a professional. Also, make sure to read the machine manually, and once the machine is assembled, go ahead and oil the engine: the manual specifies the type and quantity of oil.

Handlebar

Fix it at the correct height for comfortable and optimized use. Make sure the handlebar fixing rod is tightened. Once you've completed these steps, you're ready to fill up the tank and start the machine.

About once a week (if you use your brushcutter a lot) it's important to clean the harder parts of your brushcutter, such as the cooling fins, the outside area of the carburetor, and the outside of the spark plugs. It is also encouraged to check that the starter's air intake is not blocked and that the horn gear is three-quarters full of grease. If you follow these practices, your brush cutter has a better chance of extending its life.

Pull the Starter - Never Let Go Too Quickly

The correct way to start is with quick pulls and short pulls. Don't pull it the farthest; halfway through should be fine. After pulling, don't let go immediately, let it pull your hand back slowly. If released immediately, the coil spring inside will be damaged. Just go, pull, pull back, pull, pull back...

Empty the Fuel Tank

Before putting away your lawn mower, you should thoroughly clean it and completely drain the fuel tank. To empty the carburetor, start the engine with an empty tank and let it idle until the fuel is exhausted or it is released under the carburetor. Check the brushcutter for dirt and, if necessary, let it dry before putting it away.

It is best not to reuse depleted fuel (gas loss) but to use fresh fuel to keep the engine healthy. It is best to drain it when not in use for about 1 month. Because the 2T engine oil in the fuel tank will sink in time, once it sinks, it will make it difficult for your engine to start and block the carburetor. So you need to open it up and clean it up.

The best practice is to only fill up with as much fuel as you need (usually 600ml - half a tank) and add more as needed.

Check Spark Plugs

Remove the spark plug and look at its electrodes. If they are light brown, the spark plugs are fine. Spark plugs with electrodes of any other color must be cleaned or replaced. If it turns black, replace it.

Keeping the Mowing Line Moist

Remove the cutting blade, clean it, and inspect for damage. Spray tools for corrosion protection. If necessary, you can have your blade sharpened by a dealer or by yourself using a whetstone.

Provide Proper Inspection and Service for Your Machine

Inspection and maintenance every 50 hours, including cleaning spark plugs, fuel filter, fuel screen, muffler, decarbonizing cylinder, and cleaning spark suppressor.

Air Filter Care (Thermal Grinder)

A dirty air filter can cause difficulty starting, loss of power, malfunction, and accelerated engine wear. The cleanliness of the air filter must always be maintained. Check the condition of the air filter after each use and clean it if necessary, or at least every 25 hours. Replace the filter element every 200 hours, or if it shows some weakness.

Depending on the Engine, Several Types of Air Filters Exist:

Foam Air Filter: Remove the filter element and clean it with gasoline. Dry in the sun. Saturate with oil, then press firmly to distribute oil and remove excess. Put it back in place, paying attention to the installation direction.

Dual Element Air Filters: Remove the foam filter from the paper filter. Check both elements and replace them if damaged.

To clean the paper filter, tap the filter several times on a hard surface to remove dirt or blow compressed air from the inside (max. 2 bar). Do not use a brush to do this.

To clean the foam element, clean the housing of the air filter. Put the filter and cap back in place. See the engine instruction manual for more explanation

Wheel Maintenance

The wheels and their mechanisms are exposed and soiled with dirt, brush, and mowing residue. It must be washed after each use. For air-filled wheels, check the pressure and re-inflate if needed.

Maintenance of Grinding Blades

The blade is guaranteed to be cut and must be sharp to produce quality work. It must be ground at least once a year. Cracked or dull blades must be replaced. Check blade tightness.

Engine Oil

Oil Level Check: It is important to check the oil level before each use. To do this, place the machine on flat ground. Engine mounts must be level. The oil cap is located on the front of the engine and is also the oil level gauge. Unscrew the cap, and remove and wipe the gauge.

Checking is done by putting the cap in place without tightening it. Read on to measure the oil level which must be between the low and high oil levels in the shaded area. The level must always be correct. If not, add SAE 10W30 oil to the four-stroke engine.

Drain: The first drain must be done after 10 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first. Then we recommend every 50 hours or 3 years, whichever comes first. For this operation, you must make an appointment at a dealer or a workshop that specializes in mechanical garden tools.

Cable Adjustment

The machine has one or more cables, depending on the model. They operate the controls. Inspection and adjustment are important for the optimal optimization of leverage. There is an adjustment bolt on each cable. Follow the inspection and adjustment instructions indicated in the manual.

Inspection and cleaning: After each use of the machine, it is recommended to keep you (or any other user) safe by cleaning the outside of the machine and making sure the wiring harness is not damaged. You should also clean the air filter and replace it if necessary so you don't forget about it the next time you use it.

Before using a brush cutter, it is important to inspect and test the throttle trigger lock and throttle for proper function, as well as the guard for any cracks or damage. If there is any damage, it must be replaced or repaired before use, otherwise, the machine will not be safe to use.

Deposit

First, the fuel tank must be cleaned and emptied and then removed to check whether the spark plug needs to be cleaned or replaced. It is best to do this before storing the machine. The next job is to remove and clean the metal cutting blade, inspect it for damage, and prevent it from showing any signs of corrosion. It is best to hang up the brush cutter for storage. It saves a lot of space because you can fold the handlebars away so they can be easily hung in the garden shed.

Storage Skills

If you know you won't be using your brush cutter for a while and plan to store it, there are a few things you must do first to make sure it's still in good condition the next time you use it.

- Inspect, clean and repair equipment if necessary.

- Start the engine - this will consume all the fuel in the fuel lines and carburetor.

- Remove the spark plug and pour a teaspoon of clean oil into the spark plug hole in the cylinder - replace the spark plug.

- Check blades, and sharpen or replace them as necessary.

- Empty the fuel tank. Let the engine run until it runs out of fuel to drain the entire fuel system. To avoid any problems at start-up due to spoiled fuel contaminating the carburetor, you can use ready-to-use fuel that you can buy at the store: this alkylated fuel contains fewer harmful substances and avoids scrubbing the carburetor.

- Check that each nut and screw is tight.

- Grease the swivel axle on the front of the mower.

- The machine must be stored in a dry and ventilated place.
