If you have recently received a pressure washer, or have finally purchased a pressure washer that you have had your eye on for a while, you may have noticed that there are a variety of pressure washer nozzles to choose from. So how do you know which one is right for the task at hand? We've collected some simple tips and tidbits to help you use your pressure washer safely and effectively. Read on to learn everything you need to know:

Why You Need the Right Nozzle

Your pressure washer may have several nozzles, or you may have seen different kinds of nozzles online or in stores. But why not just pick any nozzle and start your project right away?

If you install the wrong nozzle, you may be doing more than just removing grime. You can even remove paint, and damaged wood, add dents, or go straight through the material you're cleaning. Choosing the right pressure washer nozzle means you can get the cleaning results you want without risking your items. See below for the most common nozzle types and how to use them.

0 Degree

Zero-degree nozzles allow water to discharge without any change in angle. Instead of spraying water, you'll see a stream of water coming out of the nozzle. Because the water is coming out in this orientation, the force is very high and the diameter of the flushing area is small, usually around a quarter.

These nozzles are usually red and are not used very often. Due to the small diameter of the jet, not only does it take too long to clean large items, but the force may damage the surface of the item. At the correct distance, they may help remove caked rust or stains from the concrete.

15 Degrees

Typically yellow, this nozzle tip is suitable for medium peeling needs. It's great for prepping wood or metal for a new coat of paint. It's also great for removing hard dirt and mud from vehicles like off-road vehicles, quads, and pickup trucks.

Use this nozzle sparingly to remove material that really sticks to items that can withstand pressure.

25 Degree

This nozzle is the most commonly used nozzle and has a large number of applications in the home. Typically, the nozzles are green and come with most new pressure washers. The angle is slightly wider but still packs a powerful blast, making it ideal for cleaning driveways, patio furniture, and fences faster and more efficiently.

40 Degree

Because of its wider angle, the 40-degree white nozzle tip provides a softer spray than smaller angles. This lower pressure spread over a wider area makes the white nozzle an excellent choice for tackling delicate surfaces that are stuck to the dirt, such as windows.

65 Degrees

Also known as a soap nozzle, this tip is usually black and has the widest angle available. These nozzles are manufactured in a way that allows special cleaners to be added to the lines so you can soap up the area you want to clean. This is great for really hard-to-clean items or especially stubborn mold, mildew, or grime.

Refreshing your sidewalk, patio, fence, or anything else with a pressure washer is fun, but it can also be difficult knowing which nozzle to choose for a particular job. If you are looking for a new pressure washer nozzle, welcome to contact us.
